FAQ

Becoming a Member

The Railroad Yakuza takes its name from the Japanese word Yakuza, meaning literally "8-9-3", one of the worst hands you can get in the Japanese form of Blackjack. It is also the slang name for the Japanese mafia. Its members include both railroaders and railroad photographers.

Like a mafia, its members, though not necessarily related by blood, are a kind of family. They assist each other and dispense favors. They back each other up. They settle disputes. They prefer to work behind the scenes and off the record rather than publicly. Its founding was less the creation of such a group, than the acknowledgement of what already was in existance.

Membership is conferred by existing members through actions and deeds; it is earned, not given.
